FAQ
How do I apply self-tanner for the best results?
To achieve the best results, exfoliate and moisturise your skin 24 hours prior to applying the EFFN self-tanner. Use a velvet tanning mitt to apply the product evenly, starting from your legs and working your way upwards. Avoid any contact with water for at least 6-8 hours after application to allow the tan to fully develop.
How long does the tan last?
The duration of your tan will vary depending on your skin type, but EFFN can last between 7-10 days. To prolong the tan, moisturise daily with EFFN body creme at night and gel creme in the morning. You can start to exfoliate with the EFFN polish from day 4 of wearing your tan. This will fade your tan to perfection, and you can top up or re-tan when you’re ready. Avoid scrubbing off your tan at the end of the week, as this will interfere with the pH balance of your skin. Use the fragrance-free EFFN body collection for optimal results.
How soon can I shower after applying self-tanner?
For best results, avoid showering for at least 6-8 hours after applying self-tanner to ensure the tan has fully developed.
Can I use self-tanner on my face?
Yes, many of our products are safe for use on the face. Be sure to choose a product formulated for facial use and follow the same application instructions as for the body. Avoid the eye area and lips.
Will self-tanner stain my clothes or bedding?
Our self-tanning formulas are designed to be transfer-resistant once they have fully developed. We recommend waiting until the tan has fully dried (usually 10-15 minutes) before dressing. We also suggest wearing dark clothing during the first few hours to avoid any potential staining. You can also apply our tan setting powder in bronzing or translucent to be completely transfer-free.
Can I apply self-tanner over a fake tan that’s already fading?
Yes, you can apply self-tanner over an existing tan. However, it’s recommended to lightly exfoliate any dry or patchy areas first for an even, flawless finish. Make sure you moisturise daily!
How do I remove self-tanner if I make a mistake?
If you’ve made a mistake, gently exfoliate the area using an EFFN polish with an exfoliating mitt. You can also soak in a hot bath with baby oil, then rinse in the shower and exfoliate.
How often should I reapply self-tanner?
To maintain a consistent, even tan, we recommend reapplying self-tanner every 7-10 days, depending on how quickly your tan fades and your desired intensity. Alternatively, you can top up using our gradual lotion whenever you desire to deepen your glow. To keep skin hydrated and fading to perfection, be sure to use our body Bible fragrance-free kit.
What makes your self-tanner different from others on the market?
Our self-tanner is formulated with a unique blend of natural ingredients that provide a streak-free, natural-looking tan. It’s enriched with skin-nourishing vitamins and antioxidants, offering a smooth, even application. Fragrance-free, it dries instantly, so you can tan, get dressed, and go about your day while staying instantly golden. Effn will continue to deepen throughout the day.
Is your self-tanner cruelty-free?
Yes, all our products are cruelty-free and never tested on animals.
Can I use self-tanner if I have sensitive skin?
Many of our products are formulated for sensitive skin, but we always recommend doing a patch test before applying any new product, especially if you have sensitive skin.
What shade of self-tanner should I purchase?
Effn recommends that the more pale your natural skin tone is, the darker the shade you should use. For extremely fair skin, we recommend ultra for the body and light-medium for hands and feet. For fair skin, we recommend medium-dark/ultra dark. For olive skin tones, we recommend light-medium and medium-dark.
How do I store my self-tanner?
To maintain the quality and effectiveness of your self-tanner, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
